Health Screening Cancer Awareness:

Cancer Awareness

Cancer Signs or Symptoms

Take an early health screening right now to detect the early symptoms of cancer, and prevent it from happening. If you, or someone you know, show the following symptoms or signs, please go to the doctor for a check-up as soon as possible!

Cancer can be treated, and the chances of recovery are much higher at an early stage. A preliminary health screening will yield a detailed health report, as well as a qualified doctor who will advise accordingly (from the index of the report as well as symptoms and signs), and recommend further tests and/or detail scans.

Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Singaporean women - about 1000 women are diagnosed with the cancer annually. Significantly, the number of women diagnosed with breast cancer is increasing at an average of 3% annually. Women of all 3 major ethnic groups (Chinese, Malay, Indian) are equally affected. Women of all age groups are affected but it is more common in women above 40 years old.

The incidence rate of breast cancer in Singapore is about one-third of that of American women and half that of European women. It is estimated that an American woman has a 12% chance of developing breast cancer in her lifetime. In Singapore this chance is lower, estimated at 4 to 5%, yet the risk is always there. Be vigilant!

Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer is a malignant tumour of the prostate gland (about the size of a walnut). It is located below the bladder and surrounds the top part of the urethra. The prostate produces semen and its development depends on testosterone, a male sex hormone. When cancer develops in the prostate, it may spread through the lymphatic system to other parts of the body such as the bones and lungs. Avoid these problems with early detection. Get checked early with our Health Screening packages.

Skin cancer

Skin cancer is the 7th-most common cancer in both males & females in Singapore. Get checked early with our Health Screening packages.

Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer in men and the second-most common cancer in women. One in of every five people who die from cancer had lung cancer. An estimated 85% of lung cancer cases in males and 75% in females are caused by cigarette smoking. Less than 10% of lung cancers occur among non-smokers. The risk of lung cancer for the smoker increased by 15 to 25 times.

When the smoker stops smoking, the risk of lung cancer drops to twice the risk of a non-smoker after 10 to 15 years. The best safeguard against lung cancer is to never smoke, quit now if you do! Keep problems at bay, and get checked early with our Health Screening packages.

Health checks do not cost a lot, unlike what many people think. Health problems, if not detected early, will cause much more stress and monetary complications to one’s life and family. Early detection is key - remember the popular adage ‘Prevention is better than cure’ and live longer and healthier.

Both Chronic Diseases and Obesity are on the rise in Singapore. The top two killer diseases, cardiovascular disease and cancer account for 60.5% of all deaths in Singapore (Source: Ministry of Health - Health Facts Singapore (2008) / Health Promotion Board). One in 10 Singaporeans or 10.8 per cent of the population is obese, up from 6.9 per cent, according to the latest National Health Survey 2010+. Being obese means having a body mass index of 30 or more, which greatly increases the risk of obesity-related health conditions such as heart and joint problems, diabetes and some cancers.

The good news is that both can be prevented and treated if detected early.

Make regular health screening with us part of your health regimen. Early detection and proper medical guidance can help minimize health risks, while keeping chronic diseases and obesity at bay. Take control of your health today!
