Singapore Quick Traffic Cameras App3 Minutes Read
What does our app do?
Our app provides live traffic images updates provided by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) with estimated travel times for checkpoints. This information is coupled with various weather-related information from National Environment Agency (NEA).

Why use our app?
Simply because we made our app with love and with our users in mind! These are some ways our users will benefit from using our app:
- Speed: Our app is optimized to download data quickly. Information transmitted from our server is compressed. Our most recent benchmark shows our compressed data transmitted is 94% smaller. This also allows you to save on mobile data.
- Ease of Usage: What you need is never more than 2 or 3 clicks away. We minimize the number of clicks or steps required to get to the information you desire quickly.
- Responsiveness: The app is designed to react quickly to your gestures. This means you get your information with minimal waiting, likely less than 0.5-1 second.
As a result, we believe this results in an optimized user experience.
How is this app different from other apps?
It is difficult to compare our application with another without full knowledge of
how another developer or service provider functions. As an important guiding
principle on how we function, we try to focus on what we believe provides the
most value and best tradeoffs for our users.
The approach to our application design is similar to how we approach health screening for our patients in our clinic. Our app makes it easy and fuss-free for users to get their hands on the information they want, and our patients also find it easy and fuss-free to get their health screening and healthcare needs taken care of.
We also highlighted the UV Index and 1 HR PM2.5. This allows travelers, especially motorcyclists to be aware of the potential risks of air pollution and sunburn. There is also an active weather forecast for both Woodlands Causeway Checkpoint and Tuas Second Link Checkpoint so it is clearer to tell if it may be currently raining, or will rain soon. The following are live examples for your easy viewing.
This is in line with what we want for our app users and patients, to be able to make well-informed decisions about their health and well-being.
How does the app work to get the necessary data?
We get updates on Singapore’s road conditions through a variety of sources such as
Land Transport Authority, National Environment Agency, Data.gov.sg and Google.
As techies, we live and breathe tech and very much subscribe to the Smart Nation Initiative by the Smart Nation Digital Government Group, and believe that technology can help people live better lives.
The Smart Nation initiative is our way forward. Technology will be so seamlessly integrated that it will transform the way we work, live and play.
— Smart Nation Digital Government Group
Here we would like to express our gratitude to the respective teams at Data.gov.sg, Land Transport Authority, National Environment Agency and Google. This project would not have been possible without the support and data provided through their endpoints.
What did you optimize for this app?
The following can be quite technical, but for fellow engineering enthusiasts, we have considered the problem holistically, various trade-offs and have implemented the following on our app:
- O(1) Retrieval: Retrieval of our traffic data from our server is O(1).
- P99 Latency: Our benchmark shows P99 latency of our APIs to be 80ms. This means 99% of end-to-end calls from our monitoring service responded within 0.08 seconds.
- Content Delivery Network: This allows our app to deliver the necessary data even during high load periods such as Chinese New Year or Hari Raya.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, we have an Android version in the pipeline. We will update you soon once this is done. You may also follow us on Facebook for updates. In the meantime, you may also bookmark https://healthscreening.sg/singapore-traffic-cameras to view the relevant cameras from your Android device.
Our data is updated as frequently as possible, mostly optimized to whatever the service provider allows. For instance, LTA updates their traffic images once a minute. We pull this data from LTA every minute to ensure it is most recent for our users.
Data is provided as it is from the various APIs. However, travel times can vary quickly. We have taken efforts to provide a range in travel time estimation. We will study the data and see how to maximize the accuracy over time. If you have any feedback, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
