Yellow fever, a viral illness transmitted by mosquitoes that are active during the daytime, continues to be a significant concern in multiple regions. As of 2023, this disease is prevalent or endemic in 34 African countries and 13 nations in Central and South America.

Despite the absence of reported yellow fever cases in Singapore, the potential importation of the disease poses a notable risk given the presence of the Aedes mosquito vector. Thus, stringent regulations have been instituted to mitigate the potential introduction and spread of the disease within the nation. It is mandatory for all travellers, including Singaporean residents, who have visited countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission to possess a valid vaccination certificate against yellow fever obtained within six days prior to their arrival in Singapore. Compliance with this regulation requires travellers to present their vaccination certificate to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer stationed at the immigration counter upon arrival in Singapore.
